Our Mission

The Sammie's Sunshine Mission is to offer hope and support to families facing tragedy resulting from auto accidents, as well as to provide education and awareness in order to decrease the number of tragedies each year through seat belt awareness programs.

Our Story

On July 21, 2020, the lives of so many were forever changed. Our loved one, Sammie, was in a horrific car accident. She was not wearing her seat belt and was ejected from the car. Sammie fought hard for six days. She passed away on July 27th, the day after her 15th birthday. It was the hardest thing our family has ever gone through. Friends from all over rushed to our family's side to grieve with us and support us in any way possible. We were fortunate in having so much support, but not all families do.

Out of this tragedy, we decided we want to help others in similar situations. No one truly understands what it is like to lose a loved one until they have experienced it. We found talking with others who had been through something similar helped so much that we decided to start Sammie's Sunshine.

Our passion as a foundation is to provide support to families who are facing similar situations. We truly want to offer them a "Raye of Hope". We plan to help support them as needed: financially, emotionally or just by walking with them through a difficult time. Another passion is seat belt awareness. We will continue sharing Sammie's story so we can help save others through seat belt awareness. Prevention is the key. The number of fatalities due to not wearing a seatbelt is alarming.

As a foundation, we have the opportunity to make a difference in so many people's lives. Our motivation is driven by our desire for helping ensure other families do not experience the same tragedy that we did and in memory of Sammie. Samantha Raye was a strong force and with her as our inspiration, we know we will make a difference!
